UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Washington Capitals forward Eric Fehr left Sunday's Game 3 at Nassau Coliseum against the New York Islanders after suffering an upper-body injury in the first period.

Fehr was crumpled along the boards by Islanders winger Kyle Okposo and looked shaken up after the play.

The 29-year-old veteran went off to the trainer's room shortly afterward and did not return.

After the game, Capitals coach Barry Trotz said he was still waiting for a full update on Fehr's status.

The Caps saw another forward exit the game later in the first period when Marcus Johansson left the ice following a hit from Isles fourth-liner Cal Clutterbuck. Johansson returned at the beginning of the second period, however, and finished the game.

Following a 2-1 overtime win against the Capitals, the Islanders take a 2-1 series lead into Game 4.
