Chiefs sit Jamaal Charles as precaution

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charlesis out for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. Heis expected to make his season debut in Week 3, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.



Charles, who missed most of last season after tearing the ACL in his right knee in Week 5, is ready to play, but the Chiefs are being cautious and want him to be fully healthy before he returns, the source said.



Despite being out, Charles took part in the Chiefs' early warm-ups Sunday.



Charles did not play in last week's season-opening victory over the San Diego Chargers.Spencer Waretook most of the carries, finishing with 70 yards rushing, 129 yards receiving and a touchdown.
