Frank Lampard made his MLS debut in New York City FC's match against the Montreal Impact on Saturday.

Lampard had battled a lingering calf injury that saw him scratched from his first two scheduled debut dates.

However the 37-year-old former Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder was on the bench for NYCFC's match at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, and entered in the 69th minute to rousing applause.

Lampard was named an MLS All-Star despite having never played an MLS game this season. But the former England international could not take part in the league showcase on Wednesday due to the injury.

The expansion franchise lost the game 3-2.
