Giants coach Ben McAdoo is fine with Tom Coughlin at facility

INDIANAPOLIS -- Tom Coughlin always joked that his wife wouldn't want him around after he was done coaching.

Since stepping down last month after 12 years as New York Giants head coach, Coughlin has still been spending a fair bit of time at the team's offices in East Rutherford, New Jersey. He works out there in the mornings and is often in the building during the day. Coughlin and the Giants have spoken about the possibility of him staying with the team in some role, and those discussions are ongoing.

In the meantime, new Giants coach Ben McAdoo says the arrangement is fine with him.

"Not awkward at all," McAdoo said at his news conference Wednesday at the NFL scouting combine. "I respect Tom. I've talked to him a few different times about a variety of issues. I feel we have a strong relationship, and I'm going to bounce ideas off of Tom as long as I can bounce ideas off of Tom."

Coughlin hired McAdoo as his offensive coordinator two years ago, and he has been supportive of McAdoo as his successor. The two of them were on the same flight from Newark to Indianapolis on Tuesday. Coughlin is here as part of the NFL's "Madden committee," which makes recommendations to the larger competition committee on league issues.
