Isaac Brizuela's first-half strike secured Chivas a 1-0 win over the New York Red Bulls in the CONCACAF Champions League semifinal first leg at Estadio Chivas on Wednesday night.

The Mexico international struck in the 26th minute to give the hosts the lead, sliding the ball under Red Bulls keeper Luis Robles after a swift counter-attack.

New York pushed for an equaliser, but their job was made even harder after defender Aurelien Collin was shown a red card 17 minutes from time.

Collin will miss the return leg, but the MLS side know that a win by two goals or more at home will secure their place in the CCL final.
