After he graduates from Duke, Marshall Plumlee will go from playing for Coach K to working for Uncle Sam.

Plumlee, a student in Duke's ROTC program, took part in a contracting ceremony prior to the Blue Devils' practice Friday, which served as his swearing-in to the U.S. Army. If the junior center completes his ROTC requirements by his graduation in spring 2016, he will then become an Army officer.

The team was in attendance for Friday's ceremony at Cameron Indoor Stadium, including head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who attended and played basketball at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Plumlee's teammates Quinn Cook and Amile Jefferson held the American flag as Plumlee was sworn in.

The 7-footer is currently in the midst of his third season, averaging 2.5 points and 2.4 rebounds in nine minutes a game for the fifth-ranked Blue Devils

Plumlee is four inches taller than the maximum height (80 inches) allowed to join the Army, but according to the Duke Chronicle, he was granted a special waiver.

In October 2012, Krzyzewski took the Blue Devils to Fort Bragg, where the squad took part in physical conditioning and hosted an open practice for troops on the base. Plumlee joined the Duke ROTC program during the 2012-13 academic year.

Plumlee's older brothers, Miles and Mason, also played at Duke and are now in the NBA with thePhoenix Sunsand theBrooklyn Nets, respectively.
