MLS outfit New York City FC and its stars David Villa, Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard are set to head south in the upcoming international break to face Liga MX side Necaxa, according to reports.
The match will take place on Oct. 7 in Estadio Victoria in Aguascalientes at 9.30 p.m. ET, reported Empire of Soccer, with both leagues on a break due to national team fixtures.
More details about the friendly match are set to be released on Tuesday, wrote ESPN Mexico.
NYCFC booked its place in the MLS postseason with a 4-1 victory over Chicago Fire last Friday in its second season in the league, while recently-promoted Nexaca is in 12th place in the Liga MX Apertura and currently on a six game undefeated streak.
Necaxa is led by Chilean duo Edson Puch and Manuel Iturra and also has Honduran international Bryan Beckeles as well as Argentine goalkeeper Marcelo Barovero.
