Baltimore Orioles rookie Mike Wright will start in Sunday's series finale against the New York Yankees.
Orioles manager Buck Showalter announced the decision to start Wright following Saturday's 9-4 victory over New York.
Wright was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday when right-hander Miguel Gonzalez was placed on the disabled list, but the Orioles opted to keep the rookie in the bullpen for the last three days in case he was needed as a reliever.
Earlier this season, Wright became the second pitcher in Orioles history to begin his career with two consecutive scoreless starts. The right-hander has made four starts overall, going 2-1 with a 2.96 ERA.
The Orioles will aim for their seventh straight victory Sunday and attempt to sweep a three-game series from the Yankees for the first time since 2013.
