New York City FC coach Patrick Vieira has rubbished speculation linking Sami Khedira with a move to the Major League Soccer club.
Reports claimed in November that Khedira, 29, could leave Juve for MLS, with NYCFC, LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls all being touted as possible destinations for the Germany international.
NYCFC is on the lookout for a designated player following Frank Lampard's departure from the club, but Vieira says Khedira is not the man who will be joining.
"There is nothing I can say because he's not one of the players that we are targeting," Vieira told reporters. "I think he's playing in one of the biggest clubs in the world and he doesn't have any intentions yet to come to MLS."
NYCFC already has David Villa and Andrea Pirlo as designated players, and Vieira confirmed the club is doing all it can to find a third.
"We're having a conversation with some clubs, with some players. Hopefully we can finalise it as soon as possible," Vieira said. "We have a few targets on the table and we want to be sure that we bring in the right player who can help the team, help the club get to a different level."
