NEW YORK -- Rangers defenseman Kevin Klein appears to be nearing a return as the Blueshirts look to close out their first-round series in Game 5 against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night at Madison Square Garden.
Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said Thursday that Klein was "50-50" in terms of his availability for the potential series-clinching game.
The Rangers lead the series 3-1.
Klein has yet to appear in a game for the Rangers this postseason because of a broken arm that has sidelined him since March 11.
Klein did not practice Thursday, although the Rangers called it a "maintenance day." Forward Mats Zuccarello and defenseman Keith Yandle also had "maintenance days," but both players are expected to be in the lineup against the Penguins on Friday.
