NEW YORK -- New York Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello was knocked out of Game 5 against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night at Madison Square Garden and did not return.
The diminutive Norwegian winger was hit in the face by teammateRyan McDonagh's slapshot during the first period and left the Rangers' bench to head to the trainer's room. He appeared woozy as he slowly skated to the bench.
Carl Hagelin scored the game winner in overtime to send the Rangers to the next round of the playoffs, eliminating the Penguins with a 2-1 win.
A Rangers spokesman said after the game that Zuccarello is being evaluated.
The Rangers are already without defenseman Kevin Klein, who has yet to return since sustaining a broken arm on March 11.
