Security filmed roughing up Houston students rushing field

HOUSTON -- Videos showing security guards punching and tackling students who rushed the field after No. 19 Houston's 24-13 win over No. 22 Temple surfaced online Saturday, and the university said it would review the incident.

Thousands of fans rushed the field at TDECU Stadium to celebrate the Cougars' American Athletic Conference title game win.

Some of the fans, however, were pushed, punched and body-slammed to the ground by security guards from Contemporary Services Corporation, the company Houston contracts for athletic events.

Cougars athletic director Hunter Yurachek said he was "extremely disappointed and angered" by the actions of some of the security guards employed by CSC.

"We are working with the University of Houston police to review today's activities and will take swift and appropriate action including the termination of our current contract with CSC and any legal action deemed necessary," Yurachek said.

In a statement on its website, CSC said it was looking into what happened.

"Training is provided to CSC employees for responding to such situations," the company said. "Any actions by CSC personnel that contradict our training, CSC's other requirements, or the law, are not condoned by CSC and will not be tolerated. We are currently performing an investigation of the events and will take appropriate action based on the outcome of our investigation."
