When New York Mets right-hander Bartolo Colon isn't hitting home runs, it turns out he's inspiring other pitchers to do the same.

That was the case, evidently, on Wednesday night, when teammate Noah Syndergaard slugged two homers off Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Kenta Maeda and drove in all four of the Mets' runs in their 4-3 win.

After the game, Syndergaard took to Twitter to say that Colon, who hit his first career home run Saturday at age 42, was the man behind his big night at the plate.

The Mets' Twitter account also got in on the fun, anointing the duo as the new "Bash Brothers."

Syndergaard became the second pitcher in franchise history to hit two home runs in a game, joining Walt Terrell, who did it against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Aug. 6, 1983.

Colon will take the mound for the Mets opposite Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw in the finale of the teams' four-game series on Thursday. Kershaw has allowed just two home runs to opposing pitchers in his career.
