The baseball community reacts to Derek Jeter's number retirement

The No. 2 will never be worn by another member of theNew York Yankees.



On Sunday, the franchise retired the jersey number that was worn for 20 yearsby future Hall of Famer Derek Jeter.



The ceremony took place at Yankee Stadium just before the Yankees played the Houston Astros for the second game of their doubleheader. As the evening's events unfolded, various players both past and present took to the internet to share their admiration and respect for the Captain.



In addition to having his number retired, Jeter received a ring, a blazer and a plaque that will be placed in Monument Park.



While his jersey marked him as No. 2, it's safe to say that many Yankees fans will regard Jeter as their No. 1 favorite for years to come.
