The WNBA released its 2018 schedule Thursday, and with it, news of where the still-for-sale New York Liberty will be playing their home games this season.
The league, which will start play May 18, had its schedule release held up because of the wait for the Liberty to be sold. But the Madison Square Garden company, which put the franchise up for sale in November, announced earlier this week that it would continue to operate the Liberty while still seeking a buyer.
The Liberty's primary home in 2018 will be the Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York, as they play 15 games there. It has a listed capacity of 5,000. Two games will be at their previous home, Madison Square Garden: vs. Phoenix on June 5, and vs. Seattle on Aug. 6.
The Westchester County Centeris also the home of the Knicks' G League team, the Westchester Knicks.
The season will open in Phoenix on Friday, May 18 with Dallas visiting the Mercury. A highlight of the opening weekend will be defending champion Minnesota hosting Los Angeles on May 20 (5 p.m. ET, ESPN2). The Lynx and Sparks have met in the WNBA Finals the past two seasons.
The Las Vegas franchise, formerly located in San Antonio, will play its first home game on May 27 against Seattle. The Aces, who are on the road for nine of their first 13 games, will play home contests at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
ESPN2 will televise 13 games throughout the regular season, starting with the Lynx-Sparks matchup.
