Yankees' Core Four watches next generation of Yanks make their mark

The New York Yankees honored the past this past Saturday, commemorating 20 years since the 1996 World Series championship that ushered in another era of dominance.

The game might have been billed as a celebration of the past, but all the Yankees' greats got a glimpse of the future when Tyler Austin and Aaron Judge homered back-to-back in their first major league at bats. So, what were the Yankees' famed "Core Four" of Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada doing during the home runs? The team'sPR department had the answer.

The Core Four forged the backbones of those Yankees teams that won four world titles in five years with that group at the center. The club'sfarm system has had a couple of years of lean production but, on a day during whichthe past was on display, it was the future that stole the show.
