The New York Yankees optioned outfielder Clint Frazier to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre after Sunday's game.
Frazier, 23, had appeared in only one game since being called up on May 15. He sat for five games, then went 1 for 2 with two walks and a double in the Yankees' 8-3 win over Kansas City on Saturday night.
Frazier, who made his major-league debut with the Yankees last year, missed much of spring training and additional time in April after suffering a concussion. He was hitting .362 with three homers and four RBI in 12 games at Scranton.
The Yankees are expected to add a reliever before they open a three-game series against the Rangers in Texas. If Tommy Kahnle isn't activated from the disabled list Monday, the most likely candidate from Triple-A is Giovanny Gallegos.
