Yankees reinstate Nathan Eovaldi, others from 60-day DL amid roster moves

The New York Yankees reinstated right-hander Nathan Eovaldi from the 60-day disabled list, the team announced Friday.

Eovaldi's season ended in mid-August, when the Yankees announced that he would have two surgeries to repair a torn flexor tendon and a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow. He is expected to miss the entire 2017 season.

Tommy John surgery was needed for the UCL injury, marking the second time Eovaldi, 26, has had the procedure. Eovaldi underwent Tommy John surgery as a 17-year-old pitcher at Alvin (Texas) High School.

Eovaldi is eligible for arbitration this offseason, and there's a possibility the Yankees might choose to non-tender him.

Eovaldi was 9-8 in 24 games for the Yankees this season, 21 of which he started. He posted a 4.76 ERA, struck out 97 batters and walked 40 in 124 2/3 innings.

The Yankees also announced that infielder Dustin Ackleyas well as right-handers Chad Green, Branden Pinder and Nick Rumbelow were reinstated from the 60-day disabled list. In addition, New York added catcher Kyle Higashioka and right-hander Domingo German to its 40 man roster.
