Yankees to start Sonny Gray, CC Sabathia in first two games of ALDS

The New York Yankees announced that Sonny Gray will start Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Indians at 7:38 p.m. Thursday at Progressive Field. Trevor Bauer is starting for Cleveland.

For Friday's Game 2, New York will send CC Sabathia to the mound, while the Indians will start Corey Kluber.

Gray, who was acquired at the trading deadline to help get New York into October went 1-2 with a 4.86 ERA in three starts against Cleveland.He went 4-7 with a 3.72 ERA in 11 outings for New York.

Sabathia spent eight seasons with Cleveland and twice pitched in the postseason for the Indians.

The 37-year-old Sabathia went 14-5 with a 3.69 ERA this season. He has a 9-5 record in 18 career postseason starts.

The Yankees overcame a 3-0 deficit in the first inning of Thursday night's AL wild-card game and won their first postseason game in five years to earn a best-of-five matchup against the defending AL champion Indians -- the team with the best record in the AL.

"We're not done yet,'' slugger Aaron Judge said after the 8-4 win at Yankee Stadium. "We've just got to keep it rolling in Cleveland.''
