Crash shuts down southbound Taconic in Millwood; 2 northbound lanes blocked

YORKTOWN (WABC) -- A serious accident with a car fire and undisclosed injuries completely shut down the southbound Taconic State Parkway in Millwood late Thursday morning.

The crash happened near Kitchawan Road, just south of the border with Yorktown.

Two northbound lanes were also closed, and traffic backed up for miles in both directions.

State police will only confirm that the accident, which involved two vehicles, is under investigation.

The number and extent of the injuries is unknown at this time, but it not believed any of them are life threatening.

The highway fully reopened within a few hours.
