No. 1 subway service suspended all weekend for maintenance
CeFaan Kim has the details

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The no. 1 subway line will be suspended this weekend for maintenance work, which could make traveling along the West Side and in the Bronx a bit more difficult.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, there will be no subway between Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street and South Ferry stations.

"Wow, that's unbelievable," straphanger Jannick Pimentel said. "The service isn't really that great on the 1. It's always slow and stuff like that."

Workers will be completing brick arch repairs at 168th Street and 181st Street, installing track panels north of 215th Street and completing Superstorm Sandy recovery work at the South Ferry station.

"Well it's been a disaster this past month," rider Matt Schepis said. "The 1, 2 and 3 have been a nightmare, a nightmare."

Customers who use the No. 1 line this weekend are strongly encouraged to use the following alternatives:

--For service between South Ferry and Chambers St, use free shuttle buses.

--Transfer between 2/3 trains and buses at Chambers Street.

--Use 2 and 3 trains running local in both directions between Chambers Street and 96 Street, replacing 1 service.

--For service between 96th Street and 168th Street, use free shuttle buses or the AC at nearby stations.

--For service between 168th Street and 191st Street, use M3 or free shuttle buses. Or, use the A at nearby stations.

--For Dyckman St, use M100 (free shuttle buses overnight) to/from the Dyckman St A station. Transfer between 2/3 and A trains at 59th St-Columbus Circle.

--For 207th St, use the nearby A station, and transfer between 2/3 and A trains at 59 St-Columbus Circle.

--For service between 207th Street and Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street, take free shuttle buses. Transfer between buses and A trains at 207th Street and between A and 2/3 subways 59th St-Columbus Circle.

--No. 3 service operates between Chambers Street and 148th Street overnight.
