School bus driver dies after fiery collision with SUV in Colts Neck, NJ

COLTS NECK, New Jersey (WABC) -- The driver of a mini school bus has died following a head-on collision with an SUV in Colts Neck, New Jersey on Tuesday.

It happened on Phalanx Road in Colts Neck around 2:26 p.m. The bus became engulfed in flames.

The driver of the bus later died at the hospital. The bus was owned by Helfrich & Sons of Keansburg.

One student and an aide were aboard the bus at the time of the crash. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

The driver of the SUV was also hospitalized at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township.

It's not yet known what led to the crash.
