A truck fire is causing a major traffic backup on the southbound lanes of Routes 1 and 9 in Newark Monday.
The fire happened just before 5 p.m. near Newark Airport, and smoke could be seen for miles.

Firefighters put out the fire a short time later, but the roadway remains closed.
