Bronx school teacher arrested for sending sexually explicit photos to female students

BRONX, New York (WABC) -- A Bronx school teacher was arrested and charged after allegedly sending lewd photos to several female students and forcibly touching one of them.

According to police, two 16-year-old girls and an 18-year-old girl say 26-year-old Bronx School of Law teacher Alexander Guzman sent photos of his private parts to them on Snapchat.

They say the photos were sent between September 23 and October 31.

Authorities say Guzman also forcibly kissed and touched one of the 16-year-old girls' inappropriately while inside a school classroom.

The New York City Department of Education says the teacher has been removed from the school.

"These are deeply disturbing charges and DOE has cooperated with the police department fully and the teacher was immediately removed from the school. The safety of our students is our top priority, and we have stringent protections in place to address any allegations of impropriety."
Guzman was arrested on Friday just before 11 p.m.

He had only started working at the school in September and outraged parents now question the Department of Education's vetting process for new hires.

"We need to know who they are hiring. At the end of the day schools need to be safe for our kids," one parent said.

He has been charged with two counts of disseminating indecent material to minors, sexual misconduct, forcible touching, and two counts of aggravated harassment and harassment.
