New parking meter rate hikes went into effect on Monday. The increases vary by zone and the highest spikes are in Midtown and Lower Manhattan.
Hourly rates will increase there to $5.50, up from $4.50 and the second hour will go up by $1.50, to $9.
Neighborhood retail and business districts will also see an increase.
In Midtown, commercial vehicles will pay $7 for the first hour, $10 for the second and $13 for the third -- or $30 for three hours.
Joe Longobardi owns a construction company based in New Jersey, and come May, when congestion pricing begins, he thinks he might be priced out of Manhattan.
"How am I supposed to survive if I have to come in and drop off materials and go back out and then come back in, do I get double whammy? Besides the tolls that's ridiculous," Longobardi said.
Subway and bus fares increased in August and taxi fares went up less than a year ago.
The next borough to see meter prices go up is Queens beginning October 27.
They will hit the other three boroughs next month.
