UPPER WEST SIDE (WABC) -- Final preparations are in full swing ahead of Sunday's TCS New York City Marathon.

The New York Road Runners organization held its annual ceremonial painting of the blue line Wednesday morning in Central Park.

That line marks the 26.2 mile course that runs through the five boroughs.

The ceremony at the marathon's finish line featured NYRR leadership, multiple partners and city officials, including interim NYPD Commissioner Thomas Donlon and DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez.

The official start to race weekend happens Friday with opening ceremonies featuring the Parade of Nations, which is a showcase of runners from across the globe.

We'll have live coverage on Eyewitness News and stream that ceremony live on abc7ny.com.

Seating will be available for spectators at the finish line, which is located at 67th Street on West Drive.

The 2024 TCS New York City Marathon takes place Sunday, November 3, drawing more than 50,000 runners and will be televised in the New York area live on WABC-TV Channel 7 beginning with pre-race coverage at 7:00 a.m.
