Federal law enforcement executes search warrant at former NYC sheriff's Queens home

Updated 2 hours ago
QUEENS, New York City (WABC) -- Federal law enforcement is now investigating former New York City Sheriff Anthony Miranda.

Search warrants were executed at his Queens home Thursday.

It's not clear what exactly prompted the search.

No arrests were made.

In 2024, Eyewitness News reported the city's Department of Investigation was looking into Miranda's enforcement of unlicensed smoke shops, and the cash seized during those investigations.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani replaced Miranda as city sheriff in May.

A spokesperson for the mayor said the administration is aware of the federal investigation and its committed to transparency and accountability.
