Man fatally shot inside Flatlands, Brooklyn laundromat; another man grazed

FLATLANDS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A man was fatally shot inside a laundromat in Brooklyn on Monday morning.

It happened on Utica Avenue in the Flatlands section around 8 a.m.

The 41-year-old was shot multiple times while washing clothing. He was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.

Sources said he was the intended target.

A 68-year-old man was grazed on the foot. He is in stable condition. Police said he was an unintended victim.

Police said a single gunman walked into the business and opened fire in what sources tell Eyewitness News was a targeted shooting.

Witnesses remembered hearing about 6 shots.

"We go to the floor and went into the bathroom and locked the door, I was scared the guy was going to come to the door and start shooting," witness Philip Denaud said.

Sufyan owns the laundromat and wasn't there at the time, but did see surveillance video of the entire incident.

At that time of day on a holiday weekend, there were only about 15 people inside, including a 30-year-old.

"I stepped out to get coffee when I came back, I saw the victim on the floor bleeding out," the witness said.

An employee was alone behind the register, inches from the gunman, when he pulled out the weapon and repeatedly squeezed the trigger.

No arrests have been made, and the motive is unclear.
