NEW YORK (WABC) -- More than a thousand interns will start their summer jobs with the NYPD on Monday.
Hundreds of young people under the "Summer Youth Employment Program" or SYEP will sit for their orientation at police headquarters in Lower Manhattan.
This summer, the department says interns can gain work experience, develop professional skills and explore careers in law enforcement.
They'll be placed throughout the department, at precincts and special units all around the city.
