Join the fight against Pancreatic Cancer at PurpleStride New Jersey.

PARSIPPANY -- On Sunday, November 8, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network are holding a timed run and awareness walk at Mack-Cali Business Campus in Parsippany. The PurpleStride New Jersey event will raise awareness and funds to support the mission of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to advance research, support patients and create hope. Today, in the United States, only seven percent of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer will survive more than five years. Nearly 3,000 people will join in the movement to change the future for this disease and double survival by 2020, at PurpleStride New Jersey.

"PurpleStride New Jersey is an uplifting day meant to create hope and encouragement for people who've been deeply affected by pancreatic cancer," said Todd Cohen, spokesperson for the Northern New Jersey Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. "Funds raised help provide personalized support for patients and support research grants and advocacy efforts to increase federal pancreatic cancer research funding."

PurpleStride New Jersey event details:

  • Sunday November 8, 2015 at Mack-Cali Business Campus, Parsippany - Campus 1
  • Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the event will start at 9:00 a.m.
  • 5K timed run and family-friendly awareness walk Family friendly activities throughout the day
  • This year, it is estimated 48,960 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and approximately 40,560 will die from the disease. Only seven percent of those diagnosed will survive more than five years. A study by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, published in the journal Cancer Research, predicts that by 2020, pancreatic cancer will surpass breast and colorectal cancer to become the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States.
