One marching band from Long Island is about to perform at the Columbus Day Parade.

OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y. (WABC) -- A marching band from Long Island is about to perform on one of the country's biggest stages, the Columbus Day Parade on Fifth Avenue.

It could be nerve-wrecking for any performer, but these musicians are no stranger to overcoming obstacles.

For the first time, the drum corps from Family Residence and Essential Enterprises will be marching in the parade.

The band is made up of people with special needs and developmental disabilities.

Months of practices seem to be paying off!

You can catch the band and the entire Columbus Day Parade live on Channel 7 on Monday starting at Noon.

Eyewitness news reporter Lisa Colagrossi and anchor Ken Rosato will be reporting from the parade route.
