Suspect in East Harlem attempted rape arrested

EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police made an arrest in the attempted rape of a woman in Manhattan.

22-year-old Justin Ramirez is under arrest and facing a charge of rape.

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. Monday near East 102nd Street and Park Avenue in East Harlem.

Police say the suspect followed a 31-year-old woman into her building and attempted to rape her as she climbed the stairs to her apartment.

The victim fought off her attacker, who fled on foot.
