Sandy Kenyon sits down with 'How to Get Away with Murder' star Viola Davis.

Fans of the hit ABC drama "How to Get Away with Murder": get ready to see the show's star go through a major transformation.

It's a promise the show's producer made to Viola Davis - and the reason she took the role of Analise Keating.

No longer the mysterious crazed sociopath..instead, what makes her tick?

Viola Davis has made history, but the star doesn't take herself too seriously.

"It's not my style to go to bed with my Emmy on one side, and my SAG Award on the other, and kiss and hold them and think, "Oh I made history!'", she said.

Davis told me her focus is on creating 'Analise Keating' as a three-dimensional human being.

"And the more I get involved in the make-up and the hair and the awards, the more I lose my significance," said Davis.

Season 3 is designed to explain how her character came to be. So tough 'n hard and the more recent episodes amount to a promise kept for the star: a promise made by producers before "How To Get Away With Murder" even began.

"The agreement was that I will play mysterious. I will play sociopath. I will play all those things: sexualized, but only if you explore the 'why', only if you explore the humanity behind it," said Davis.

"As a general arc, where do you see this series going?", we asked.

"We're gonna answer the 'why'," said Davis.

"Maybe she'll get to laugh a little?"

"Yeah there'll be some laughs in there," she said.
