LOS ANGELES, California (WABC) -- Jimmy Kimmel is getting ready for Hollywood's biggest night and the biggest night of his career - hosting the 89th Oscars.

"I want everybody to laugh. I don't want to be castigated afterward. I don't want to be mentioned every year for the rest of my life in the list of the worst hosts of the Oscars. This is something they put on your tombstone so I need to make sure it's good," Kimmel told Sandy Kenyon.

He's juggling the job while hosting 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' across the street from the Dolby Theater where he will take the stage on Sunday night.

Kimmel follows in the footsteps of high profiled comedians such as Chris Rock, Ellen DeGeneres, Jon Stewart, Billy Crystal and Johnny Carson in hosting the show.
