20-year-old wounded in Jersey City police-involved shooting dies

JERSEY CITY -- Hudson County Prosecutor's Office investigators are probing a police shooting in Jersey City that left a man dead.

Officials say police officers chased 20-year-old Lavon King on Tuesday to a shed in the backyard of a home on Ege Avenue on Tuesday. Authorities say King was wanted on outstanding drug and theft warrants.

The prosecutor's office says King struggled with one of the officers and tried to disarm him. The officer fired one shot, striking King in the chest.

King was pronounced dead at a hospital.
