LOWER MANHATTAN, New York (WABC) -- Of the 18 people arrested during an immigrants' rights demonstration in Lower Manhattan, two are New York City Council members.

We've just learned Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez, who represents neighborhoods in Upper Manhattan, is now facing several charges including reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Councilman Williams is seen in the photo in a gray suit and red socks. Council Speaker Corey Johnson participated in the protest but was not arrested.

He was arraigned Thursday night and released without bail.

Councilman Jumaane Williams was also arrested.

Ydanis Rodríguez and Jumaane Williams, who both hold council seats, were arrested in Foley Square while protesting the arrest of Ravi Ragbir, an immigrant rights activist.

Federal agents and the NYPD made the arrests when some protestors blocked an ambulance carrying immigrants' rights activist Ravi Ragbir.

"They, I guess, were trying to take him out and some of us were peacefully protesting," Williams said. "The police got a little out of control as far as I'm concerned, I've never experienced anything like that. But, I really want to make sure that we focus on Ravi because thankfully I got out, he hasn't."

Immigrant activists are demanding the immediate release of Ragbir, a citizen of Trinidad who has been fighting deportation after a fraud conviction.

ICE officials say he has exhausted his appeals and will be deported.
