JERSEY CITY (WABC) -- Three people are under arrest in connection with the murder of a boy in New Jersey, whose organs were donated to six people.

16-year old Ronald Witherspoon, Jr. of Jersey City was found with an apparent gunshot wound to the head shortly after midnight July 22 in the area of Monticello and Belmont Avenues.

He died the next day at Jersey City Medical Center.

The Hudson County Prosecutor has announced the arrests of Naji McDuffy, age 24, Darius Evans Emanuel, age 21, and Justin M. Nesmith, 24, all of Jersey City.

They are charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Witherspoon was killed by a stray bullet, apparently an innocent victim of gun violence.

Six people now have his organs, including a 13-year old girl. And in that way, Ron Witherspoon Jr. lives on.

"He was a good kid. Definitely in my eyesight he was a good kid and he had a lot of friends," said his mother Dawn Williams.

His large family is grieving but also angry because they say the group of kids he was with a few doors away from his home probably included the intended victim.

Ron's mom says she heard the gun shots sprayed by cars driving by.

One of Ron's big sisters says she keeps hearing his voice and thinks that, anytime now, he'll come walking back into the house.

"I be sitting out here and I just be waiting for him to come around the corner. It's just sad," said Naynay Williams.

Ron will be buried Tuesday. His organs were donated through the New Jersey Sharing Network.
