MOUNT EDEN (WABC) -- The step-grandfather of a 3-year-old boy in the Bronx has arrested for his death.

33-year-old Fernando Yensi has been charged with the manslaughter of a person less than 11 years old.

"Yo, I'm innocent," said Fernando Yensi, the suspect. "I never touched him."

"How did he get bruised? How did he get hurt?" Eyewitness News asked.

"I have no idea. This is all B-S," Fernando Yensi said.

But Fernando Yensi Thursday night stands accused of beating the life out of a 3-year-old boy.

"He beat my baby until there was nothing left of his body," said Ashley Ramirez, the victim's mother.

Ashley Ramirez's son Poseidon Quinones was taken from her by Children's Services after a fight with Poseidon's father and placed in the custody of Poseidon's paternal grandmother, Madeline Yensi. 33-year-old Fernando is her husband.

"All I ever did was take care all my kids, ask anybody," Fernando Yensi said.

"He had about six bruises on his face alone. I got a picture texted to my phone last night that Madeline posted on Halloween. His whole eyelid is busted open," Ramirez said.

That picture, Ramirez says, proves ACS never checked on the child in the weeks since Halloween. Otherwise, she says they never would have left him in the care of the Yensis.

But six days ago, the little boy she calls "Seidon" wound up on a slab in the Medical Examiner's office. His cause of death was blunt force trauma to the abdomen.

"He was the happiest little boy, he had the most beautiful smile and the biggest brown eyes, I used to just look into his eyes and get lost," Ramirez said. "I'm not going to be able to see the first day of school, nothing. I'm never going to get to see my little boy again, for no reason."
