Bar owner arrested for alleged sex assaults, child porn
Carolina Leid reports from Floral Park.

FLORAL PARK (WABC) -- A popular bar owner on Long Island is accused of sexually abusing young boys for decades.

FBI agents say they also found child porn on Vincent Calamia's computer.

Now, they fear there could be many more victims out there.

"We never expected to hear something like that, never ever," said Elizabeth Torres, a neighbor.

Vincent Calamia has been a well-known part of the Floral Park neighborhood for decades, living and working in this village.

Residents say they can't believe he's accused of raping teenage boys.

"I've known him for seven years. When I heard the news I was shocked. He has a great personality, very nice person, very helpful, a good neighbor," Elizabeth Torres said.

Federal agents arrested the 48-year-old, saying they found videos of him having sex with boys between 15 and 17 years old.

He's accused of drugging some of them.

The criminal complaints say it first came to light when an alleged victim reported that Calamia "has been sodomizing him and several of his acquaintances regularly over the past several years, beginning when (he) was less than 18 years old."

He's also accused of regularly "chatting with boys between 14-16 years old for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct including oral sex.

No one answered the door at the suspect's Village of Floral Park home.

Frankie and Vinnie's, the bar he owns up the street, is now closed.

"He's a little weird for me. He just come in and get a hair done. I just do his color. I don't know that much about him," said Kandin Thurbuin, a neighbor.

"He's pretty normal. He didn't seem like that type of person," said Eric Torres, a bar patron.

Agents say the alleged abuse may go back as far as 1982.

So they're urging anyone with information to come forward.

"I hope it's not true for the sake of him, the family, and especially the boys," Elizabeth Torres said.
