Bridgeport principal accused of stealing $10,000 will not be returning

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport's school superintendent says a principal accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a school fundraising account and spending part of it in casinos will not be returning.

Interim Schools Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz said school officials are working out the matter with lawyers.

Meanwhile, the lawyer for Marilyn Taylor said she never intended to steal.

Attorney Edward W. Vioni told the Connecticut Post that an analysis of the school's fundraising account is expected to be completed by next week. He says if money is missing, Taylor "fully intends to make the account whole."

Taylor was arrested on a first-degree larceny charge. She's accused of stealing $10,000 from a student fundraising account and spending much of the money at casinos in Connecticut and Mississippi.

She's due to be arraigned Jan. 2.
