HARLEM (WABC) -- Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in Harlem that was allegedly sparked by a fight over an umbrella.

The incident happened just after 8 a.m. at the intersection of 125th Street and Lexington Avenue.

Authorities say there were two couples involved, and exclusive video obtained by the New York Daily News shows the two women tugging on either side of the the umbrella outside a McDonald's. That's when the video shows the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Jesus Santiago, running over and stabbing the other man's girlfriend in the back repeatedly.

That's when the victim's boyfriend, in his 30s, jumped in and was fatally stabbed. The woman, 46, remains in extremely critical condition.

Santiago is presently charged with assault, but it is expected that he will face upgraded charges. His girlfriend, 36, was also taken into custody.

A knife was recovered at the scene.

The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification and the investigation is ongoing.
