FRANKLIN SQUARE, N.Y. -- A New York City man is accused of selling heroin to an undercover police officer in the presence of his wife and toddler.

The alleged transaction took place Wednesday in Franklin Square on Long Island.

Nassau County police say Reese Russell of Queens sold the drug to the undercover detective for an agreed upon sum of money.

They say Russell's wife, Viktoriia, who was sitting in a car, produced a fraudulent Connecticut driver's license when questioned by police. The couple's 18-month-old daughter also was in the car.

Russell was charged with criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance. The couple also faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child.

It wasn't clear if they had a lawyer.

The girl was placed in the care of a family member.
