Man injured in slashing on subway near Columbus Circle in Manhattan

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A man was slashed in the neck early Monday during a dispute that started on a subway train on the Upper West Side.

The dispute started on a northbound A train and spilled onto the 59th Street Columbus Circle platform just after 2 a.m.

Police say there was some type of argument between the victim and another man on the train, and as it approached the station the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the 21-year-old victim.

The man sustained a knife wound to the neck that is not considered life-threatening.

Train service has not been affected.

The victim's name and age have not yet been released.

Police took two people into custody and charges are pending.

The motive for the slashing is not immediately known. Detectives will interview the victim.
