PLAINFIELD (WABC) -- A New Jersey man is under arrest and facing charges after police say he intentionally set a fire at the home of his ex-girlfriend.

Somerset County Prosectuor Geoffrey Soriano says 22-year-old Alexis Brito, of Plainfield, was taken into custody in connection with the blaze, which broke out around midnight Sunday on Manning Avenue.

A minor who was in the home at the time was able to escape with minor injuries by jumping out of a second story window. Residents of adjacent dwellings were also evacuated.

The investigation revealed that Brito set fire to the house after stealing an iPad from inside.

Brito is charged with three counts of second-degree aggravated arson, third-degree burglary, fouth-degree theft and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Bail was set at $100,000 cash only.

The judge also imposed a special no contact bail condition as part of defendant's bail ordering him to have no contact with the residents of the dwelling, as well as the residents of the two adjacent neighboring dwellings on Manning Avenue.
