PRINCETON, Massachusetts (WABC) -- Almost a week after 30-year-old Katrina Vetrano was found murdered after going out for a jog in broad daylight in Queens, a homicide investigation has been opened in Princeton, Massachusetts, where the body of a 27-year-old woman was found after she went missing while out for a run during the middle of the day.
Vanessa Marcotte, a 27-year-old Google account manager living in New York City, was last seen Sunday afternoon while visiting family in the area, police said.
Around 1 p.m., she went for a jog and vanished. Officers found her body in the woods that night about a half mile from her mother's home.
ABC affiliate WCVB in Boston is reporting that Marcotte as found naked and with burns on her head, hands and feet, but it was not immediately clear if she was sexually assaulted.

Authorities urged residents to use an abundance of caution in the area, and said there's "nothing at this point" connecting this case with Vetrano's. An autopsy is scheduled.
"Vanessa Marcotte was a much loved member of the Google team, working in our New York office for the last year and a half, and known for her ubiquitous smile, passion for volunteer work, and love of Boston sports," a Google spokesperson said in a statement. "We are deeply shocked and saddened, and our thoughts are with her family and friends."
Police Chief Michele Powers is urging town residents to remain vigilant.

The rural town of Princeton has about 3,500 residents and is 40 miles west of Boston. Marcotte grew up in nearby Leominster.
