Police investigate after Newark grandmother found murdered in home
Kemberly Richardson has more on the murder of a grandmother in Newark.

NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- Police are investigating the death of a beloved grandmother whose body was found inside her home in Newark.

Essex County prosecutors say 76-year-old Adela Padilla was found dead in her Summer Avenue home around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities have not said how she was killed, but the case is being investigated as a homicide.

The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.

There is no word yet on whether there was any forced entry in the home.

Padilla lived in the home for many years and was loved by her neighbors.

"I don't think she had many enemies," said neighbor Anna Keyton. "She was very quiet, kind of stayed to herself."

Neighbors said they didn't hear anything in the overnight hours from Friday into Saturday.

The case is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the Newark Police Department.
