Police searching for children who targeted man on Brooklyn street

FORT GREENE, Brooklyn (WABC) -- They are just kids - the youngest is perhaps eight years old. Now, they are wanted by the police.

Detectives believe the group of youngsters between 8 and 14 years old, one of them a girl, mugged a 30-year-old man. Authorities say they punched him, threw him to the ground, then stole his laptop bag, a library book and headphones.

The group attack happened back on November 25th, shortly after midnight. The victim was walking down Willoughby Street when he crossed paths with the kids. The block features Long Island University on one side, apartments on the other.

Residents who Eyewitness News spoke to say they did not recognize the kids, but police are hoping someone comes forward with information.
