ELIZABETH, N.J. (WABC) -- A little boy's wheelchair and leg braces were stolen from right in front of his home in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

The theft has left the 5 year old without his lifeline.

Police don't know who took the wheelchair, but they are searching for the thief.

"Andrew has something called CDLS," said Keeley Pacheco, Andrew's mother.

5-year-old Andrew needs his custom made $2,600 wheelchair to sit, go places with family, and to go to school.

His mother Keeley has been carrying him since the wheelchair and his braces were stolen right out of the driveway. She put them by the car while she was going in for him and they disappeared.

"Yes, as I always do, set it down and head up for a moment," Pacheco said.

"Any idea why they took it?" Eyewitness News asked.

"Like I told you, it's valuable," Pacheco said. "He uses it to be transported, for getting around, sitting he cannot walk. We really just wanted it back, nothing else, returned, left in the driveway, he just wants his life back!"

Keeley is thankful for the attention and says she knows the power of Facebook, but warns people she is not looking for money.

"We have not asked for any and if someone is collecting it is not going to us, that would be fraud!" Pacheco said.

Eyewitness News called the custom wheelchair company out in California. Milena Rimassa, who works in community relations, says she decided on the spot to get Andrew a new one, gratis. Who called her?

"I just copied and pasted the screen put it in an email and sent it to Convaid and said, 'Hey can we help this kid?'" said Ben Hertz, of Elmora Healthcare.

In fact everyone involved in spreading the word and making this right said this was a no-brainer.

These kids and parents need another message from life, that the good people out there outnumber the bad.
