Masked gunmen rob two delis in Queens

SPRINGFIELD GARDENS, Queens (WABC) -- Police are searching for three men after two delis were robbed on Sunday morning in Queens.

Three men walked into a deli on Rockaway Boulevard and 144th Ave in Springfield Gardens. One man pointed a gun at the worker, while the other two men went behind the counter and started stealing everything that they could carry - cash, cigarettes, lighters and condoms. They even took the worker's wallet and the green card he was carrying.

Nadr Ahmad happened to be downstairs at the time - he called police as soon as he learned what had happened.

"As long as workers didn't get hurt, I didn't care about the money," he said.

This store was not alone - two and a half hours later on 116-23 Rockaway Boulevard, another deli was robbed - cash and cigarettes were taken. This time the suspects stole lottery tickets as well. The three men had their faces covered.

Police are not yet calling this a 'robbery pattern,' but there is fear about these men striking again.
