Two-term Republican County Executive Edward Mangano, who has pleaded not guilty to federal corruption charges, isn't seeking re-election.

Republican Jack Martins, a former state senator, will be on the November ballot.

Curran had the backing of the party and has been a Democratic legislator from Baldwin for three years now.

"I want to get rid of the corruption tax," she said. "Make sure that every penny is spent transparently and ethically."

Maragos has been the county Comptroller for eight years.

Curran will face off against Martins, a former State Senator from Old Westbury.

"This is about today," he said. "It's about the future, and it's about the person best equipped to deal with the future. And that'll be us."
